FEMINIST RESEARCH ON LITERATURE AND THE ARTS
This is a research group of the UPV/EHU Department of Art History and Music. It brings together, on the one hand, researchers who have conducted research in the history of art, and, on the other, those who are engaged in literary criticism. A common feature of the work of all the researchers in the group is the use of feminist theory, criticism and history as a basis and tool for research, and the feminist perspectives involved. Similarly, the artistic practices of the Basque Country and literature created in Basque language are the other unifying thread of the research group, following the main focus of the research process so far. It is also remarkable the previous experience analysing Basque literature and visual arts from a feminist perspective.
The main objectives are two: firstly, the group aims to review from a feminist perspective the historiography of contemporary art and contemporary literature in the Basque Country. Considering the androcentric nature of the history of cultural creations so far, this group seeks to question these main discourses and to produce different ones. The second purpose is to propose new genealogies of creation developed in recent decades in both the visual arts and literature, giving visibility to women creators who have remained hidden, and proposing other thematic and methodological axes for the historization of contemporary arts.
